My Balmoral was planted from seed by my aunt and transplanted. We planted this along side my herb garden. The picture above shows it as it was blooming for the first time. For scaling purposes, I believe that is a 3-inch plastic pot on the right side. These two plants got HUGE. Their leaves were the sizes of basketballs.
The first fruit! Here it is.....
I paid particular attention to this one and watched it like a hawk. Here is another picture around the time I picked it.
After I picked it, I ended up sauteed it with some onion and other spices. But here is a picture as I cut into it.
It was very exciting to watch this plant grown and be so successful. Below are several pictures of different squash taken from the plant. This is not all of them. I just did not take pictures of all of them. As I sit here, I am looking at the plants, and they are overrun with grass and slowly dying out. It is unfortunate, but I definitely plan to plant more next year. My uncle mentioned that he enjoys stuffed squash. After saying that, I think this would be a great species of squash for stuffing. Plans for next year already, I guess.
Enjoy!

Love the pics! As a side note, I will remember next year that the balmoral does great in the ground, but notsomuch in a pot. Yours and G's were extremely productive, whereas mine, Mom's and A's, even though in large pots, were not.
